In difficult economic times, being creative and resourceful can go a long way, and during recent months it has become crucial that we “tighten our belts” and discover all the resources that may be available to us. One resource that’s rapidly gaining attention nationwide is the Angel Food Ministries, and you can find a host site right here in Willis, Texas. And, unlike food pantries that offer emergency boxes for families in need, there are no applications to fill out or requirements to meet. The program is open to anyone, regardless of their income level or situation.

Whenever the need arises to stretch our paychecks as far as possible, most of us begin to reevaluate our personal budgets to separate necessities from luxuries and looking for less expensive alternatives. So, in 1994 when Joe and Linda Wingo witnessed more and more of their friends and neighbors struggling to keep groceries on the table, they got creative and founded Angel Food – a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. Today, what began as a fledgling effort in the 1990s has grown to helping provide food relief to more than a half million families each month.

Angel Food is available in a quantity that fits into a medium-sized box at $35 per box. Each month’s menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. While the menu changes each month, below is a Sample Menu.
